Beantown Bride has launched!

Don’t get me wrong, I love waking up every morning, opening up my Google Reader, and see what abundance of wedding inspiration will greet me from the many wedding blogs I have subscribed to. In fact, many of the wedding blogs I read can be found right at Bride Tide’s 100 top wedding blogs and twitters to follow in 2010. If you closely read the descriptions, however, you may notice that many of these weddings are based either in California, the midwest, the south, or have a focus on all things outside. These weddings are a delight to behold, but I want to be realistic here – there are some inspirations that are not possible, or applicable, to the Northeast / metro Boston region. I see a lot more hotel ballroom / restaurant-based weddings in Boston simply due to one thing: our weather. It’s finicky. It has multiple personalities. Many northeast weddings don’t get featured in these blogs because our style just doesn’t fit with those blogs’ focuses. When it rains, you can kiss your outdoor picnic tables and even some tents goodbye. There are certain photoshoots that are simply not possible – Boston seashores are never going to get the kind of sunsets you’ll see in California. The colors are different.

I interned at Google in Mountain View, CA for the summer of 2006, and I returned to the Bay Area in the spring of 2009 for a vacation. Both times, I noticed a very different quality to the outdoor photographs I took there compared to the ones I can take in Boston. All I’m saying is, Boston and the New England area, there is a certain character to the weddings here. I’ve been wishing for months that there was a blog that would highlight the loveliness of Boston-area weddings. So imagine my excitement when I found out about Beantown Bride’s launch this week. Beantown Bride is a blog dedicated to the Boston audience! Pay attention to this blog – the talent that is already featured is enormous, and I bet you it will be a go-to resource for trends in the future!
