I’m so excited to present this wedding not only because I adore the couple in these photos, but because this wedding is incredibly cool and unique. Brett, of Brett Alison Photography (with whom I second shot back in September), decided to get married at the tail end of wedding season given that she herself was a wedding photographer. The original plans were to have a Hallowedding in Salem, but it got moved one week later. Probably a good idea, otherwise there would have been no room to get photos with the huge influx of tourists on Halloween! Her wedding was intimate, with their closest friends and family. You’ll see some shots featuring people from  the group Phoenix Swords, a performing group that Tom belongs to.  This is my last wedding of 2009 – enjoy! Many thanks to my wonderful assistant, Emily, for helping out!
Brett’s dad getting ready
Brett’s mask for the reception
We walked around Salem for photos
In front of city hall
It was such a beautiful fall day
I hadn’t been to Salem in years… they had a red line running through the major attractions in town, similar to Boston’s Freedom Trail
Brett made her own flowers. I love the orange colors

Tom is one of the sweetest grooms I’ve ever met. You can just see the adoration he has for Brett in his eyes and in the way he holds her

We arrived at the park where the bridal party waited for us
I loved this groomsman’s jacket
Brett was so relaxed throughout the entire day, the wedding ran so smoothly! I think it’s rare for a photographer to be on the other side of the camera, so I really want to show her beauty on her wedding day
Loving her bright eyes and the flowers pinned in her hair
With the bridesmaids
The ceremony had a really special Celtic tradition element where Brett and Tom’s hands were tied together in a handfasting ceremony

They made their entrance in their fantastic masks under a sword salute at The Lyceum in Salem, MA
A tender first dance
There was a lot of friendly competition and fun at the dinner and reception – a magician…!

…pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, with Brett and Tom on hand to judge and hand out drink tickets. The winners of the costume contest are here reacting to the announcement. I just love how everyone got into it
Loved the lively dancing – I think this guest’s dress really added to the mood
We ended the night with a talent show! Tom even got in on a couple of sword fights with his Phoenix Swords buddies
The rest of the details… there were so many! Row 1: tarot cards on cocktail tables, one of the guests’ pumpkin carving, a textured-leather guest book, a basket holding candy for the candy buffet in Tim Burton design
row 2: cake topper featuring The Corpse Bride; a treasure chest of accessories for non-costumed guest; a potato head pumpkin; escort cards (the tables were named after famous halloween/scary movies)
row 3: the winning pumpkin design – a phoenix and a shooting star; the cupcake cake; and more candy buffet

Vendor love!

It’s been such an amazing year! Blogging this just makes me even more excited for photographing all the great weddings I have coming up next year! Also, note to everyone – I will be out of country between Nov 21 and Dec 2, I’m vacationing with my family in Australia. I’ll have spotty access to email but I’ll get back to you when I return.
