Once upon a time in college I was known as the “PBJ leader” for our Christian fellowship, AACF. PBJ actually stands for “Praise Band for Jesus” (though it’d be funny to be called Peanut Butter & Jelly leader), and what that meant was I got to rock out every Friday singing songs that give credit to my Father Upstairs for all the amazing things He continues to do in my life. I was a classically trained pianist and I can sing in tune and I tried the guitar somewhat, but I think that most of the time it was just great to be with my brothers and sisters, my home away from home. Sometimes we do joint Friday sessions with our sister fellowship HRCF, and Matt belonged to that one. I would always come to the equipment room to find Matt sitting there, eager to carry pounds and pounds of speakers, drum sets, guitars, chairs, you name it. On a Friday night. When people are normally eating dining hall food and planning to hang out with friends. I appreciated Matt’s quiet way of being very helpful and technical and behind-the-scenes. And I’m so happy to see him planning a new life with the very sweet Christina, who went to my high school! Unfortunately I was not available for their wedding date, but I was down in NYC about a month ago attending another wedding and we decided, weather be darned, let’s do an engagement session! We thought we would have cloudy skies, but no, about 5 minutes into the shoot, it began to rain and rain and rain. Christina and Matt were great sports. Also, a big thank you and shoutout to my awesome friend Casey for assisting at the last minute!
We started out at this cuuute playground near New York University / Stuyvesant Town
One of the things I like photographing most are strong geometric shapes, which abound in an urban setting. This photo is a favorite!
“Let’s get climb on that train!” “What do we do?” “Be CUTE!” and cute they were
I would love to photograph in New York more often. There are so many fun finds and funky angles to try out
She’s got a ring! Haha, this cracks me up
We snuck around a book store since both Christina and Matt are in grad school (study study study)
We stayed under construction scaffolding to keep dry
And ended up with some intimate shots at Matt’s computer science lab. Yes that’s right, I took photos in a lab!
Tried a little more funky editing in this one
Congrats you two, and I know you’ll have an awesome wedding!
