I see these flowers in the Public Garden every year around this time – catch them before they’re gone!

Charlotte and James have had some meaningful dates spent at the Public Garden and we were looking for this one bench that meant a lot to them. Unfortunately there was construction work going on, so I chose this bench instead

Charlotte’s makeup was done by a favorite of mine, Danielle Ross!

Fun fact: we had about 30 seconds to do this shot without any kids in it. We wedged ourselves in between two kids and an oncoming busload of schoolchildren

Okay, so it started misting, but I just wanted them to bust out this red umbrella they brought. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Seriously colorful umbrellas / boots do make rainy days worth it. But only if they’re SUPER colorful =)

Here’s the story behind the ring shot – Malik proposed to Amy while they were vacationing in Roatan, Honduras. He had tied the engagement ring to this blue rock and put it on the ocean floor, and had Amy pick it up

We got ready at Amy and Malik’s home. Oh, how did they meet by the way? Amy was Malik’s roommate when he first moved to Boston for his job… and well, the rest is history

Malik’s socks has red rabbits. Amy’s something blue were her painted toenails which matched the blue in their invitation suite and escort cards, which Amy handmade

We did a First Look to allow plenty of time for gorgeous portraits!

I’d love to see more brides wear sleeves! Take it from Amy and from the Royal Wedding couple across the pond ;)

Amy’s flowers were GORGEOUS… succulents, fiddle heads, ranunculus, calla lillies in bright orange and greens

After the ceremony the bubbles came out!

Given that it was an intimate guest list, I was able to get a photo of everyone

We were then all treated to an awesome trolley tour of Boston! I’ve never taken ANY of the Boston tours (Duck Boat, Trolley Tour, Super Duck Boat, etc.). Learned stuff I didn’t know! For example, did you know that there was a molasses flood in the North End in 1919?

The reception was held at West on Centre, one of Amy and Malik’s favorite restaurants

The centerpieces used large candles, orchids, succulents.. Amy and Malik had me make a guestbook out of their engagement photos. The table numbers were photos of them through various stages of their years together

One of the highlighted details was their cake topper! It was a last minute addition Amy found on Etsy – made in their likeness using paper. Even the flowers on the pedestal matched the flowers on the cake. Of course, Amy had to hide it from Malik because it gave away her dress!

The toasts were very funny. Amy’s grandmother was not able to attend but sent a letter in her stead… had everyone rolling in laughter as you can see in the top left photo

This little girl was VERY well-behaved during the wedding! I think she liked the cake too

Amy, Malik, and their parents shared dances under the twinkling lights on the patio as the sun set

Thank you guys so much for having me! I’m so lucky to be able to work with such nice people, I had such a great time =)

Also, thank you Sam for assisting! I think the little girl liked him ;)

We cabbed it to the Boston Public Garden for some more beautiful sun-drenched photos

We needed a break! We stopped by the nearest Starbucks. The baristas were so excited for Karen and Bryan that they comped all our drinks!

The Chinese wedding banquet was held at Hei La Moon in Chinatown. I love this clothesline of old childhood photos

Instead of clinking glasses, Karen and Bryan required that guests who wished to see them kiss had to play chubby bunny and then say a well-wish with the marshmallows in their mouth!

Members of the family gave Karen and Bryan gifts of red envelopes and jewelry during the tea ceremony

A fabulous first dance!

Nom! We had cupcakes for dessert!

This is Alan – Karen’s cousin. I met him this past summer on my trip to Seattle as he is a mutual friend of my photog friend, Anna Wu!

And instead of a traditional bouquet toss or garter toss, the guests played two massive games of rock,  paper, scissors

And everybody danced!

We began the session at Kirkland / Eliot houses in Harvard – Karina and Bryan lived there in their undergrad years

Since when did hammocks get set up in the courtyard? so cool!

Bryan gives some of the best hugs in the world, and I really like how he’s able to bring about the sweetest smile from Karina

Did I mention these two have really beautiful hearts? I’ve seen them volunteer and help out at many events in my college years with them

Love playing with the sun in this one!
