Of all weddings so far, I was finally able to stay through the hours and hours of dancing fun that is the reception. Maureen and Josh met each other while doing a dance-off, so it should come as no surprise that there would be lots of it during their wedding! When they first walked me through their venue, I was wicked excited at the amount of thought and creativity that went into their event. They designed the setup themselves – from the giant hanging paper lanterns, the many colorful parasols, to the absolutely BEAUTIFUL uplighting, to the meticulously individually hand-painted wedding favors. Wow, I wish my entire family was as creative as theirs’! I am thoroughly impressed at the effect of all the work culminating together, it looked absolutely flawless and breathtaking. In addition, I was excited to be able to photograph the Artists for Humanity Center in South Boston. It is an eco-friendly building with a bold mission statement, and I quote – “to bridge economic, racial, and social divisions by providing underserved youth with the keys to self-sufficiency through paid employment in the arts.” In some of the photos you’ll see lovely paintings on the walls – these were all created by local youth. If you are ever interested in purchasing any of the pieces, you should go to AFH yourself and check them out!
We first got ready by the Westin by the waterfront, a giant hotel near the World Trade Center with an impressive lobby

I actually spent most of the getting ready time with the men. We started with portraits in the Westin’s lobby

We then moved to the AFH and I had a lot more time to take detail shots and some more photos of the men when they all arrived. Check out that sky!

Back to the women’s side… the only place to get ready was upstairs amongst tons of computers and art supplies and art pieces. Maureen did not break a sweat
